Pen and ink portrait drawing of civil rights activist and United States Senator, John Robert Lewis. The drawing started with a pencil sketch and then it was finished with pen and ink on Ampersand Claybord (white) which is a brand of scratchboard. Lewis is shown with head and shoulders facing forward to the viewer. A strong light is coming from his left and a little above head high. The right side of his face is in shadow. He is wearing a suit and tie. The background pattern suggest the cherry blossoms that grow in D.C. Peaking through the cherry blossoms we see the United States Capital. The drawing was drawn by hand by artist Michael Halbert. Black India ink was used on white Claybord (scratchboard).
