This weathering technique adds another layer of texture to your props, tiny speckled rings of color. This uses Copic Ink refills, an alcoholbased ink that is diluted in more alcohol, airbrushed on, and then speckled using a spray bottle filled with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
I show some realworld examples of this texture, discuss the technique and uses, and show some realtime footage of how I used it on some custom Mandalorian style armor.
I filmed this as I painted props over a few months, so I do repeat things a bit as I narrate. But I got it all in there!
Comment if you have used this technique and discovered something I didn’t, or have anything else to share!
Copic Ink Refill colors: Use any that you like, the ones used in this video were: N5Neutral Gray 5, E79CASHEW, and E34TOAST
