You Ever replace a Ps2 laser and it just doesn't work out? Ps1 games taking a minute to actually boot up? Discs stuttering in FMVS? Backup discs not playing reliably? Turns out there's an answer to this problem. Simply replacing the laser has minimal results if you don't also calibrate the lens via software called P.M.A.P.
Not only does the Ps2's eeprom store the type of laser your ps2 has installed, it also has various calibration data that would have been set up in the factory back in the day. Using PMAP is very new to me but so far the results have been incredible. If you're not satified with disc playback on your Ps2 and have novice levels of soldering experience, give this a try. It's blown mind and I wish i found it about this sooner.
