After failing to get a charge at a Geniepoint charger in Morrisons supermarket, Basingstoke, on Saturday, I went back and revisited this charger to confirm that this was not a oneoff! I also recount meeting a couple at this particular charger who were new to EV ownership and were frustrated with the whole EV experience.

Whilst motorway service stations are being upgraded with banks of chargers, the story is different in the suburbs, with EV owners reliant on terrible outdated chargers that do not accept contactless payments, forcing users to download apps and spend ages registering their details, only to find the chargers inoperative.

We HAVE to do better if we are expecting people to adopt EVs. The charging process is too complicated and fraught with problems. New EV customers need educating, which seems to be something the dealerships are not adequately doing.
