Dr. Satoshi Tateshima, a UCLA Health professor in the Division of Interventional Neuroradiology, shares information on pulsatile tinnitus, a type of ear noise that is perceived as rhythmic pulsing, often intime with the heartbeat, experienced as a thumping or choosing sound. About 1% to 3% of tinnitus patients experience pulsatile tinnitus, and when it experienced, it is almost always a vascular condition — not a problem with the ear itself.
