Puppet Hotel VR Dev Log 3: Unity Game Development with OpenXR

Welcome to the game development log (VR Dev Log) of the Puppet Hotel VR project created in Unity (OpenXR) with Blender and Substance Painter for the Meta Quest 2 & 3, PCVR, Pico & Valve Index.

Here's progress on my latest VR project, it's about 1 month in.

This week I have been focusing on getting the shader & rendering framework in, making optimal PBR shaders for the Quest hardware.

Here's a list of updates made this week:

Static shader with layers for: static lightmaps, base palette texture, albedo texture, detail map and detail normal map.
On the static shader added cube map reflection look up, but add the ability to alter the cube parameters
Added the ability to use texture arrays for the detail maps, so they tile correctly on the static shader
Wrote a tool to combine subtextures together into an atlas texture
UV mapped the static environment for palette UV, albedo UV and lightmaps
Modelled and textured the main hotel lobby (about 50% done)
Started work on the dynamic object shader
