Purchased a FLORIDA Home that was Occupied

Recently I purchased a Florida Home that was Occupied. The home was controlled by squatters and prior to July 1st, 2024 the Florida law had not yet changed, which gave nonpaying, unknown persons living in a Florida owner's home, more legal rights than the property owner themselves. As a Florida landlord, I have had extensive experience with evictions and started out offering the occupants "cash for keys" to move out, which failed! This resulted in me going through a Florida eviction process, which turned out to be the worst eviction I have ever gone through, costing me about $10,000 in legal fees and lost income.

Since this point, the Florida Law has changed, giving Florida property owners the right to have squatters removed by calling the police and not having to go through an eviction. For this reason, I would never buy real estate in any State that does not follow Florida's direction in preserving property owners rights to the real estate they own and pay taxes on.
