There are several locations in the Austin area that Purple Martins come in to roost at the end of a hard day of eating tons of bugs. The sight and the sound are both incredible. I am blessed to live less than 4 miles away from an Applebee's that has been their home for the last few years. Occasionally, when there is construction or another disturbance, the colonies of these birds shift to a nearby location, this has happened in other parts of Austin.
