This is a video of the Qantas Boeing 7879 arrival event in Hangar 96 on 20th October 2017 which marked the arrival of the first 7879 in the Qantas fleet, VHZNA "Great Southern Land".
The special delivery flight carried a number of special guests including Qantas executive managers, VIPs and the lead singer of Icehouse. The aircraft was flown from Seattle to Sydney via Honolulu (Flight Number QF7879) and was flown by Qantas Captain Lisa Norman and Alex Passerini. Prior to landing in Sydney the aircraft flew a circuit over Sydney Harbour and subsequently landed on Runway 16L at Sydney Airport. This was followed by a water canon salute by Airservices Australia.
As part of the arrival event, the aircraft was towed into Hangar 96. The arrival event included performances by Icehouse (including an acoustic version of their single 'Great Southern Land'), speeches by Qantas CEO Alan Joyce, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and Boeing representative.
