This video tutorial is about finding area/measuring area of polygon like districs, zones, regions, etc, in QGIS. Two methods have shown in this video. One is for approximation and in another method QGIS finds area based on the geometry and then total area can be found.

In this tutorial you will learn about measuring area in qgis.
Method 1
In this method you will get approx. area of selected polygon.
Go on drawing polygon whose area you want and then you can see the area in the box in
the selected unit.

Method 2
Select the opened file name
In the field select area which you have obtained from field calcuator
It will give you total area of the whole polygon.

If you want area of only one or few polygons simply select them and check on selected
features...

In this way you can find area in qgis.

Here you will get area of the file opened in qgis. File is of vector type.
