Those motors can work as alternators in order to produce electricity from mechanical energy. The current the produce a thriphasic (three phase system) AC current.

Inside the motor there are copper windings at the center, this is the stator. Outside is the part that turns, this is the rotor, in this case an outer rotator. It has many neodymium magnets that interact with the magnetic fields that are generated with the coils so they generate movements.
