Tarikh is a daily program in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons of Indian History in Hindi. In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about Queen Elizabeth’s India Visit. Elizabeth was the first British monarch to accede to the throne after India's Independence from colonial rule in 1952 and admired the “richness and diversity” of India where she made three State Visits over the course of her reign – in 1961, 1983 and 1997. These visits also had their own share of controversy. In 1961 the tour was engulfed in a hunting scandal when prince Philip hunted a tiger in Jaipur. In 1983 Queen wanted to hold a ceremony in Rashtrapati bhawan and In 1997 Elizabeth visited Jallianwala Bagh. Watch the complete video to know some interesting stories about these tours.
