Isabel I of Castile, along with her husband Fernando united much of Spain, launched Columbus’s expedition to the new world and started the Spanish inquisition. She was the mother of 4 queens, including Queen Joanna of Castile known as Jonanna the Mad and Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIII’s first wife.
