Lower Cross Syndrome is a musculoskeletal condition characterized by imbalances and dysfunction in the muscles of the lower back, hips, and pelvis. It is commonly seen in individuals who spend long hours sitting or have poor posture.

In this syndrome, there is a pattern of muscle tightness and weakness that creates an imbalance in the muscles around the pelvis and lower back. The tight muscles typically include the hip flexors (the muscles in the front of the hip) and the lumbar erector spinae (the muscles along the lower spine). On the other hand, the weak muscles are often the gluteal muscles (buttocks) and the abdominal muscles.

The imbalance between tight and weak muscles leads to a series of postural changes and movement dysfunctions. The tight hip flexors pull the pelvis forward and downward, causing an anterior pelvic tilt, which results in an increased curvature of the lower back (hyperlordosis). The weak gluteal and abdominal muscles are unable to stabilize the pelvis properly, further contributing to the faulty posture.

Lower Cross Syndrome can cause various symptoms, including lower back pain, hip pain, pelvic instability, and altered movement patterns. It can also lead to other issues such as increased stress on the lumbar discs and increased strain on the hip joints.
