Quick Tip: 6.5 Creedmoor vs .260 Remington

It's time for another "CCC" Caleb Cartridge Comparison. Today, Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant compares and contrasts the 6.5 Creedmoor rifle cartridge with the older .260 Remington. Both cartridges have the same overall length (OAL), give or take slight variations in bullet length. The .260 Remington uses a necked down .308 Winchester case. The 6.5 Creedmoor is also based on the .308, but the case is slightly cut down and the neck has a more acute 30degree angle. This enables the use of longerogive, higherBC bullets that longrange shooters prefer. The .260 Remington generates a bit more velocity at the muzzle because its longer case holds a bit more powder. The 6.5 Creedmoor can deliver better accuracy at the target because it can be loaded with lowerdrag bullets. But from a ballistic standpoint, both cartridges perform almost the same at normal hunting distances. Agree? Disagree? Share your experiences in the comments below.
