For this video, what I thought was going to be a pair of mediocre opals turned into an experience of a lifetime for an opal cutter. I cut two, over 25gram, Lightning Ridge black opals with rare red and blue colors. What makes blue/red opal so rare is that these colors are on opposite ends of the color spectrum and hardly ever appear by themselves together in opal or anywhere else in nature.
