Ustad Rashid Khan, the vocal maestro, was one such musician who left before the crescendo, at the age of 55. An exponent of the RampurSahaswan gharana of Hindustani classical music, Rashid was a child prodigy whose only obsession was classical music. He didn't want to go to school, and felt music was his only calling.
