1. Manage and treat impetigo, cellulitis and leg ulcers in line with NICE prescribing guidance for skin infections
2. Understand and discuss prescribing rates and resistance trends for skin infections in England
3. Improve their antimicrobial stewardship of skin infections.

Who is it for?

Medical practitioners in the primary care setting including, but not limited to: GPs, general practice nurses, advanced nurse practitioners and community pharmacists.

Background

Skin infections are the third highest reason for antibiotic prescriptions in England and account for just over 15% of antibiotics prescribed in primary care (1). Yet a survey of English prescribers found leg ulcers and cellulitis were in the top 10 conditions where respondents felt they required more evidence to support their daily practice (2).

In the last 3 years, NICE has published antimicrobial prescribing guidance for skin infection including acne, impetigo, leg ulcer, and cellulitis. This webinar summarises the latest research and guidance while using clinical scenarios to improve participants' confidence and ability to identify and mange common skin infections in primary care.
