Hydrohalogenation of alkynes, or in other words, the addition of hydrogen halides to alkynes, is a common reaction of alkynes leading to the formation of the Markovnikov product. There's a controversy about the mechanism of this reaction, so I'm going to talk about the both mechanisms, and why one of those mechanisms is supported by the experimental evidence, while the other one is not.
