EAST COAST SAILING

Hi guys, welcome to East Coast Sailing. I'm Rob & In todays episode, Evania AKA the "Money Pit" has finally been lifted on the hard. I'm going to talk you through detailed running costs from the buying process including surveys and lift out, annual running costs for mooring fees & standard yearly maintenance as well as all of the upgrades I have done since owning her over the last 6 months. Ill also talk you through the lift out process as well as all the jobs that need to be done under the waterline before the boat is relaunched in 10 weeks. Ill also talk you through some of the characteristics of the boat, and why it suited our sailing needs as a number of you have asked why didn't we buy a deep keel boat. Hopefully if your thinking of buying a boat you will know exactly the kind of commitment you need to make financially as well as time. Now the cost I mention are for parts only and there's well over 100 hours of skilled labour not included which could easily be another £3000£4000. Evania is a Beneteau Oceanis 343 lifting keel built in 2006. I purchased the boat back in September 2023. I have had enough time to enjoy her & learn how to sail this new boat since upgrading from a 22 foot bilge keel, finding out all of the problems along the way. Ill also be creating lots of how to videos of the jobs mentioned. I'm a big fan of preventative maintenance. The jobs list seems to grow by the day. Ill also show you how you can make massive savings on parts from the automotive industry rather than buying Yanmar parts saving you 99% in costs in some instances such as bearings & drive belts. Sit back, relax & enjoy the fact its not you money being spent.
