“Reflections on a Liquid Drop” with Physicist Sidney Nagel - UChicago Ryerson Lecture

Follow
The University of Chicago

In this Nora and Edward Ryerson Lecture, Sidney R. Nagel reflects on his work as a physicist, where he has drawn attention to seemingly simple scientific phenomena that are surprisingly subtle.

Sidney R. Nagel is the SteinFreiler Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Physics, James Franck Institute, Enrico Fermi Institute, and the College at the University of Chicago. This lecture was given on April 20, 2016.

The Ryerson Lecture grew out of a 1972 bequest to the University by Nora and Edward L. Ryerson, the latter a former Board of Trustees chairman. A faculty committee selects the Ryerson lecturer based on research contributions of lasting significance.
