Yamaguchi Barber Shop, if you didn't already know, is a 4th generation traditional Japanese barbershop tucked away in the coastal town of Hayama Easily reachable by train from Tokyo, it's a popular weekend destination known for its beaches, yachting, windsurfing, and now its Showaera barbershop!

Yamaguchi Barber Shop originally opened in 1920, but for the last 20 years has been in its current location. Modeled in the Showa era (circa the 1920s 1980s); natural stained wood, timeless vintage accessories such as the clock, desk calendar, and a vinyl collection that many music buffs would be so jealous of!

Slip off your shoes when entering, the interior beckons with a feeling reminiscent of a traditional Japanese public bath house.

At the heart of this intimate barbershop is a desire to provide the best possible hospitality to customers using handeddown family traditions ❤

We were met by 77yearold Masao Yamaguchi, a 3rd generation barber who works alongside his 4th generation barber son, Taro Yamaguchi. Masaosan has been barbering since he was 17 years old and studied in Yokohama! He likes motorcycles, fishing, and jazz music. Masaosan particularly enjoys listening to Bob James & Stevie Wonder

Masaosan says he enjoys all aspects of barbering including haircuts and shampooing. You may have seen Masaosan's work on the Yamaguchi Barber YouTube Channel. Masaosan says he loves watching his videos on YouTube!! He is happy when he sees lots of views and interesting comments❣
