Here's the little sub I used for electronics: https://www.amazon.com/EUDAXControl...

Motors and propellers are from this, but any small 68mm motor would do: https://www.amazon.com/TipmantContro...

This is number 2, of 3 sub builds on my todo list. For this one, I wanted to use some cheaper electronics and replicate the lumbering motion of the big capital ships. A while back I found a little static dive sub toy that looks to be a bigger version of the awesome Dive Master sub that Spinmaster produced. It's pretty straightforward to take apart and relocate the motors, has a working ballast system for depth control, and is controlled with RF instead of IR, making outdoor driving possible. I put these components inside of a Revell SnapTite Star Destroyer kit, which required a bit of dremeling to get everything to fit properly. Turning is controlled with a side mounted thruster on the bottom of the ship, which makes for nice banked turns. To provide roll stability (I said yaw in the video...oops) I put some foam in the command tower and ballast below it on the bottom of the hull. The hardest part of this project ended up being lighting, it took a bunch of experimenting to get a space like background underwater, without having a bunch of distracting reflections.

As with all my builds, this is strictly for fun. I do not intend to sell any sort of kit based on this project, although I will be glad to answer questions about the build, and help anyone who is interested create their own. Do not upload my content as your own, and please provide proper attribution if you are sharing it. Build and fly at your own risk and in accordance with your local regulations. Fly smart, fly safe.
