In a previous episode (   • How to Remove Cast Iron Plumbing Stac...  ) Mike showed us how to chop out most of the cast iron pipes from the old plumbing. Now we need to remove the lead and oakum hub at the bottom of the stack so that we can begin to install our new PVC plumbing. Mike uses his acetylene turbo torch (   • TurboTorch Acetylene Kit | Tool Review  ) in order to melt the lead and remove the cast iron. It's not complicated, but obviously be careful if you do this yourself. Keep a fire extinguisher handy, and make a note of any smoke detectors in the area because the fumes from this will probably set them off.
