Today, join me as I attempt to future proof an original Xbox (released in 2001) gaming console, by removing the clock capacitor which is well known to leak (in versions 1.5 and below) and cause permanent damage to the motherboard. Plus, I even have a quick go at playing HALO at the end.

The clock capacitor (a 1F 2.5v supercapacitor) allowed the Xbox to keep track of time.
Removing it and not replacing (applicable to versions 1.5 and below) will just cause the system to ask you to set the time again, if the system has been off for a while.
I believe from reading online, if you remove the clock capacitor from a 1.6 board you have to definitely replace. Otherwise the console will be stuck in a infinite clock loop.
