Alpine, and Renault as they were known before their marketing rebrand, have always had a rocky relationship with Formula One. They have achieved incredible glory, winning two drivers and constructors titles with Fernando Alonso, their engine powered Mansell and Williams to a drivers and constructors title win in 1992, in 93 it was Williams and Prost winning in a Renault powered car, in 94 they won the constructors, then in 95, 96, and 97, a Renault powered car won both titles again. Then when Red Bull joined the sport, Renault were once again the top engine producer, helping the blossoming team win four straight title doubles. When F1 engines were V8s or V10s with massive capacities, Renault pumped out engines that were worth their weight in gold, but as soon as the sport switched to the 1.6L V6s in 2014, Renaults decline began. Engines failed, customers abandoned them, their works team imploded, and now, they have hit rock bottom. The end of Renault is here, and what a disappointment it is.
