Repairing Old Fiberglass Screw Holes In a Classic Boston Whaler Montauk - Part 7

Follow
Joses Extreme DIY

In this video I go over how to repair old screw holes on a fiberglass boat. This Classic Boston Whaler Montauk came to me completely stripped down so I honestly had no idea in what condition the original screw holes were in. With that in mind, I go ahead and repair all of them (the ones facing downward).
A key element of the repair is coring out an area underneath the deck so that the epoxy resin can expand, in effect providing a solid platform for attaching items to the deck. One thing I do different foam others here is to use a bent nail rather than an Allen wrench to core out some foam. When the time comes to add rails, the leaning post zlegs, etc, I'll redrill the holes in the epoxy filler.
