Repertoire: The BEST Walton First Symphony

Follow
The Ultimate Classical Music Guide by Dave Hurwitz

Addendum: I should add to the video discussion the very good new recordings by Kirill Karabits (Onyx) and Edward Gardner on Chandos (see my review of the latter at ClassicsToday.com here: https://www.classicstoday.com/review/.... The symphony remains, however, an almost impossible piece to get right, although some versions come very, very close. We consider Walton's own (Warner), Haitink (Warner), Daniel (Naxos), Mackerras (Warner), Slatkin (Virgin/Warner), Gibson (Chandos), Thomson (Chandos), Litton (Decca), and Previn (RCA).
