Portugal has never had such positive international exposure. More and more foreigners are choosing to come and work in the international market from Portugal, recognizing the country's unique conditions in terms of safety, climate and quality of life. This attraction of immigrants now also extends to Portuguese emigrants who dream of returning "home". It is through the Programa Regressar (Return Program from the Portuguese government) that many are getting this opportunity. Not only were they looking for this change, but they are also happy because, they believe, this choice is for the better. According to IEFP data, there are already more than 16,000 people benefiting from this program's measures and 75% of those who have returned to Portugal are under the age of 44. It should also be noted that 37% have higher education. Launched in 2019, the program aims to create better living conditions by providing tax incentives and financial support for the job and reimbursement of travel costs and transport of goods for Portuguese who choose to return. In this episode, Fátima Lopes will hear the life stories of Susana Filipe, Executive Director and Researcher at the CHANGE Associated Laboratory in Évora, and Fernando Camacho, Head of Management Support at Repsol Polímeros in Sines. They are part of a new generation of emigrants who have spent more than a decade outside of Portugal and who can now inspire other Portuguese around the world to think about returning to their homeland, and who want to actively contribute to improving the country's economy and filling the shortage of qualified and specialized talent that so affects companies in the most diverse sectors.
