reusing the old hardwood floor to create a staircase (and save €7000+)

hello everyone, welcome back to a new video. in this video i will be talking about a part of our renovation that involves reusing the old hardwood floor and turn it into a staircase, or better said: cladding/covering the stairs with wood.

this is part of the renovation series but only focuses on the staircase on its own, specifically the changes we made to the stairs and the stair railing (banister).

in this video i will be talking about what we did to turn the old staircase that had a carpet into a modern, but still classic, looking staircase made from hardwood floors. although it’s not a stepbystep tutorial, i hope it mainly helps you in getting some inspiration for your next project and get an idea to reuse any old wood, whether that’s for a staircase or for anything else.

something to note is the only part that we have not reused are the back panels mentioned in the video, those were bought at the local hardware store and painted in the same colour as the walls.

additionally, i have not mentioned any costs in the video but i think in total we spent maybe about a 1000 euros for all materials including the paint. if we would have bought the materials separately and getting it done by a contractor exactly the way we have it, we would have spend at least 8 to 10k for it for both stairways.
