The reverse pivot shift test evaluates for posterolateral corner injuries. The knee is placed in about 7090 degrees of flexion, externally rotate the foot. This leads to posterior subluxation of the lateral compartment of a PLCinjured knee. Then slowly extend the knee to about 2030 degrees of flexion while maintaining external rotation. The IT band reduces the lateral compartment as the knee is extended. A positive test is an audible click heard while moving into extension.
