Rising PSA after Prostatectomy - How can I have PSA if I don't have a prostate?

David Kornguth, M.D.

Why can my PSA go up after I had surgery to remove it? Explanation of how this happens by Dr. Kornguth. The PSA is coming from prostate cancer, it was below detection until enough prostate cancer cells were present and made enough to be detected. Radiation can be effective if the cancer cells (which we can't see) are in the targeted radiation field.
