It's the 16th June 2022 and the rivers are finally open again! I decided that my opening gambit would be on the Leeds & District ASA stretch of the River Swale at Asenby, chub and barbel fishing.

The plan was to get into the river in the afternoon and trot a stick float down the shallow glides before retreating either to another venue in the evening or moving up the river to deeper slower water and sitting it out on the tip rod.

Trotting maggots by day and fishing static pellet by evening/night is usually the best way to approach these fish.

Tune in for some rod bending action and a 3ft Twitch that goes horribly wrong!
