Cunard Line's RMS Queen Mary was the company's entry into the new generation of flagship ocean liners. She was traditional, but massive and fast, having quickly earned the Blue Riband upon entry into commercial transatlantic service. Along with her running mate, Queen Elizabeth, she would carry a large percentage of the world's transatlantic passenger traffic traveling between Southampton and New York.
