The Italian battleship Leonardo da Vinci is an interesting case. The first of the Cavour class to be lost. In a magazine explosion that is still debated, to this day. If this sounds familiar to Cesare, well, that's not a surprise.

In any event, da Vinci would sink. And her salvage would prove one of the most successful in history. Many techniques were pioneered here that would find use later. From Scapa Flow, to Pearl Harbor, to Cesare herself.

It's worth looking at, I think. Though you can certainly argue the salvage wasn't worth it.
