Lingcod Rock Fishing off the Jetty along the Oregon Coast. When it comes to rock jetty fishing, I usually try to play the tides and find the right rock fishing rig that will produce some rockfish. I prefer an hour before slack tide and into about an hour after the tide change.
On this day of jetty fishing I started fishing about an hour into an outgoing tide, that is when I caught my lingcod and was a bit surprised by it.
I have fished the oregon coast quite a bit and specifically this jetty. In all my years of fishing I have never caught a lingcod from here. I managed to hook a few more rockfish but i really had to work for it. Usually when im using swim jigs i am able to find a decent amount of fish. Hopefully i will be back at it soon because i've been wanting to hook a cabezon while the season is still open for them.
