Follow
Institution of Mechanical Engineers - IMechE

Rolls Royce are developing a new generation of nuclear power plant where site construction activities are reduced and the reactor unit becomes a factory built, standardised unit, with 90% of manufacturing and assembly completed in factory conditions. The talk will explain how the concept has evolved, provide details of the general design, information on the current stage of the programme and when manufacturing will begin, and the reactors enter service.

The talk will be given by Mike Parrott who is the Lead component design engineer for piping and valves on the programme. Mike is a mechanical engineering graduate from Sheffield Hallam and is a CEng with IMechE. He has worked for Rolls Royce for 15 years with the last four spent working on the design of the Small Modular Reactor.
