Fire HD 8 (2018 KFKAWI karnak) and HD 8 2017 below (douglas).


For the Fire HD 8 2018 (karnak)

This requires a linux machine as well as opening the back cover in order to access the logic board.

Run this command in the terminal to install all requisite dependences:
1. sudo apt update
2. sudo apt install python3 python3serial androidtoolsadb androidtoolsfastboot

If python 3 serial was not found then install it manually: http://bit.ly/2vTlw3e



For the Fire HD 8 2017 (douglas)


This also works for the HD 8 2017 however, the testpoint is below the mb labelled "tp28" on initial disassembly the mb may be a bit difficult to remove due to some adhesive so be gentle while removing it (Do it gently since your speakers are connected as well) getting someone to help with making a short on the to will be convenient. The files will be in the link below.

First install the requisite dependencies: "sudo apt install python3 python3serial adb fastboot dos2unix"

Common issues and Notes:

If you receive a "Serial protocol mismatch error" then ensure that the wire is making contact with the clk testpoint, restart your PC or temporarily uninstall modem manager with the command (snap remove modemmanager or modemmanager).


Also, only flash files via TWRP and not through magisk, SuperSU or flashfire or any other similar apps. So remember only flash via TWRP.



Now that you have TWRP you can install a rom (Lineage OS) HD 8 2018:    • Upgrade Fire HD 8 2018 to Lineage OS ...  

Install LineageOS 15.1:    • Install Android 8.0 Oreo on the Fire ...
