I recently gave my Make Noise Strega it’s first live outing…wow, what an instrument it is. It was incredible fun using it to manipulate and mess with various different inputs/samples, but truth be told, I had very little idea what I was doing with it…I still don’t. But that’s the beauty of the Strega it’s definitely built for exploration and improvisation. You’re never sure where the sound is going to end up and that’s a huge part of what’s so appealing about it.

I wanted to record an improvisation without using the input though, where all the sounds are created by the Strega alone. I sat down and gave myself 10 minutes to hopefully slowly evolve a drone piece, and this is the result, ‘Agitation Drones’ named after the agitator control on the Strega.

I haven’t really explored the patching side of the Strega as yet I’ve used a couple here but it’s definitely something I look forward to exploring more in the future. But hopefully this gives a relatively good example of what the Strega is capable of on its own.
