Running Diary 29th June 2024. 30km Long Run u0026 Frustrations with my body composition.

Last weekend I ran my furthest yet, 28.5km, but it was a struggle. I had really sore hips and had to cut the run short, I had wanted to get 30km.

Today I did it! 30.5km (19miles) longest run so far.

This is as far as I want to go on my long regular training runs. My plan is to keep at this distance for a couple of months, one long run on a Saturday, one shorter (zone 3) run midweek. This will let my body adapt, and hopefully it starts to get a bit easier.
The in September I'll start to introduce a short recovery run on the Sunday, and gradually build the length of that, perhaps adding 1km every week.
Ultimately, to be ready for my 50 mile run I need to be able to run backtoback long runs.

I also wanted to briefly discuss (my) body composition. I'm a bit frustrated at the moment as I'd like to have my diet under a bit more control and be able to lose just a bit more bodyfat. I'm currently at 12.5& bodyfat, and I'd like to get down to 10%, which means losing about 1.7kg. Not a huge amount, but I am struggling to get there!

But that aside, I'm delighted to have made progress and be able to run 30km! Two years ago I would have said no way! Back then, I thought I was a 5km runner.
