A great evening spent at Wolverton on the West Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway and plenty of freight from Freightliner, DB Cargo UK, GBRF and Royal Mail.

Wolverton was built in 1838 to coincide with the construction of the Wolverton Railway Works, this however was only temporary as the land around the railway works was purchased to extend the land to 13.5 acres. This meant that the station had to be moved south, where the current station now resides. This was done in 1881 along with the rerouting of the mainline. The former station used to boast a wooden booking hall located on the bridge that passes over the line, this meant that access to the station was achieved via the use of a footbridge. This was kept in use until British Rail demolished the structure in 1991.

It took nearly 13 years before a new building was constructed on the car park level, even then it was exceptionally basic with only a booking office/waiting room available, only in 2016 was a coffee shop and snack kiosk built.
