Global spending on nuclear weapons is estimated to have increased by 13% to a record 8 lac crore rupees during 2023, according to a report from the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (Ican) group.
More than half of the money was spent by the US. China was the second largest spender. This is the situation when many countries are running undeclared nuclear programs and in 2022 a joint statement was signed by the US, UK, France, China and Russia in 2022, Stating that “a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought”.
