Russia Warship Enters Havana Harbour

A Russian navy frigate and a nuclearpowered submarine entered Havana harbour, a stopover the U.S. and Cuba said posed no threat but which was widely seen as Russia’s act of force as tensions have escalated over the Ukraine war. Cuba, a longtime ally of Russia welcomed the ship’s arrival with cannon fire from the harbour, while Russian diplomats waved small Russian flags and also captured selfies as the ship passed the harbour’s historic fortresses. Both, the Admiral Gorshkov frigate and nuclearpowered submarine Kazan, half submerged with its crew, were accompanied by a tugboat and fuel ship.
