S4EP2//Installing an Inboard Diesel Engine W/Folding Prop From Scratch

Follow
Far Reach Voyages

In the second episode of Season 4, I share what it took to install an inboard engine in the Far Reach which I had sailed for six years relying on a sculling oar and sometimes a small 9.9 hp outboard engine mounted on a swing arm bracket on the port quarter. This was a long some what complicated install as there was no existing engine system to build upon thus it was a "from scratch" project.

In the first episode of Season 4, I share what it took to rebuild our 36' sailboat from a complete gutted hull and deck into my ideal voyaging boat. Every phase of the rebuild is covered from fiberglass work to woodwork, from painting to rigging, from pumbing to electrical.

Previous episodes recap:
Season 1, Episode 1, contains a short synopsis of a six year total rebuild of the Far Reach from a gutted bare hull. I also double hand the Far Reach offshore with my sister from NC to the BVI.
In Season 2, I singlehand the Far Reach from Sint Maarten back to NC.
In Season 3, I share my Singlehanded voyage from NC to the BVI as well as from the VI back to NC.
