The B 17 was the first aircraft to be designed and built by Saab. It was a modern light divebomber and incorporated some clever innovations, such as the combined landing gear and dive brakes. The aircraft type first flew in May 1940 and was in service with the Swedish Air Force during the final years of WWII and until the early 1950s.

‘Blå Johan’ (Blue John) was originally built in 1943 and used by F 7 Wing. Today, it is operated by Saab as a proud part of the company’s heritage.
