Reaching the Channel Islands was an Everest of personal ambition, a dream thwarted twice by the wrath of nature. This year, it was all or nothing. With a mightier vessel at my command, I was determined to conquer the 600 nautical miles that lay ahead. The journey tested my endurance like never before, thrusting me into conditions well outside my comfort zone.

The sacrifice was immense. On the third week, I reunited with my family in the Solent—a poignant moment after longing for them intensely, especially on Father's Day. Together, we navigated the protected waters of the Solent and the Isle of Wight before my final push home.

Fueled by relentless determination, I reached Lymington in preparation for the 80 mile crossing in a fleeting window of calm, just before the 50mph winds battered the region as seen in the infamous Around the Island Race.
