This is the story of São Martinho de Porres, the first black saint in South America. He was the son of a Spanish nobleman and a freed slave in the 16th century. At age 15 Martinho began his career in religious life and his life was never the same. He worked as a surgeon, dentist and barber and masterfully faced prejudice based on the color of his skin. Martinho overcame fear with acts of Charity and his biography contains numerous reports of cures and prodigies through his touch.
