Ikea! One of my favourite shops ever! We have got some lovely bits and bobs for the boat and although we’re on bit of a budget but that doesn’t mean we can’t have Albatros looking nice. Every time we visit, we always say to each other how much we need a bin, yes, something so small and that most people don’t even think about becomes our topic of conversation for at least 10 minutes a day. What size do we need? Where will it go? How often will we have to empty it? Where will we find one? Well, no need for those conversations anymore! We have also been on the lookout for things like the tea, coffee, sugar canisters, the wicker basket and BBQ utensils for quite a while. Although these may seem like small purchases, they are a big deal to us in making Albatros feel like a home from home.

After we hit Ikea and off course had meatballs and bought some lingonberry jam to take home, we headed to a beautiful suburb of Paris. Saint Germain en Laye. It was here we were going to FINALLY collect our engine for our tender Bob.

Saint Germain en Laye may seem like a familiar name to you, it was for me, but I just couldn’t quite place why. It turns out, it is the home to Frances’ most successful football team, Paris Saint Germain. Although when we were driving through the narrow roads with high town houses on either side, it was hard to believe this is the home to French football. I’ve been to massive football orientated cities in the UK before, and its EVERYWHERE!

This is a beautiful town, one that rivals Paris itself and Versailles. In its heyday, it was a place where the royalty would go to escape the hustle and bustle of Paris. This has made it a very affluent suburb with its massive chateau, beautiful gardens and churches. Although the chateau car park was undergoing renovations, so although we didn’t know this at the time, it was a bl**dy nightmare to park. We got lost many times, and when we went to leave, we couldn’t find out where to pay and the barriers weren’t working. It was not a nice experience.

We found the most delicious shop for a take away lunch so we could eat lunch overlooking the Paris sky line. It was a buffet style load up your box as much as you can, but the food was incredible and I (Jess) have not been able to get any Chinese food since being here for over a year, so I was in my element. It was a beautiful shop with make your own nachos, pizza, salads, sweet pots and so much more. We ate lunch on the top of the hill overlooking the river Seine and Paris. Delicious!

But next…. The engine! We have been waiting for this one for quite a long time, and now it needs to be fuelled and tested before taking it to Albatros and trying it out on Bob, the tender. In a few weeks, we are visiting Albatros, and we cannot wait! Until next week… We’ll see you there and thanks for joining us on this weeks adventure.
