Saito FA 100T becomes very "special" engine for me, for some simple reasons. First of all, I spend at least a week to work with is, it was two times fully dismantled and assembled back, with thorough checking of all parts. Usually, I'm not totally dismantling the engine, because normally there is no any special need for that.
But this Saito FA 100T with it's constantly flamed out left cylinder becomes the "mystery of the century" for me. I think, that simple air bleed carburetor is not ideally suit for this engine. I understand the key idea in this engine to make economical engine with a single throw crankshaft. But also I think, that should be a kind of a price for such simplicity. And this is for the cost of modeler time and nerves , who will jump around this engine, trying to push it to work more or less correctly and reliable. My personal opinion, that reliability is the first important factor, second should be simplicity in operation and tuning. I think, that if you will have time to watch the full engine story (in 3 videos, at least), you can confirm, that this Saito FA 100T wasn't no any simple, easy and reliable in operation. Probably, the reason was just my crooked hands...
