Chinatown Lion Dance Festival is a group that loves the history and culture of Chinese Lion Dancing which is dedicated to sharing with all. The most common lion dancing is the Southern Lion which originated from the Guangdong province in China and has existed for over 1500 years. The Chinese Lions symbolize virtue, intelligence, wisdom, longevity, strength, & courage. The group strives to use lion dancing to help uplift and revitalize Chinatown San Francisco while exposing the masses to this great ancient art.

History
In 2020, amidst the peak of the pandemic, Mike Mak, the visionary behind the Chinatown Car Weekend, expressed his gratitude to Sifu Daniel Leung for the captivating opening performance presented by his esteemed White Crane troupe at San Francisco Chinatown's firstofitskind car show. Inspired by their shared passion for cultural celebrations, Mike
proposed the idea of organizing a grand lion dance festival to the sifu. With unwavering determination, Mike and Daniel embarked on a collaborative journey, dedicated to hosting the inaugural Chinatown Lion Dance Festival on July 16 and 17, 2022, set against the vibrant backdrop of San Francisco Chinatown. This remarkable event will
witness the participation of more than 10 prominent lion dance groups, hailing from various states, including Washington and Texas, creating a truly
captivating exhibition and fostering a spirit of friendly competition.
